Police are investigating an altercation that happened at a party store on Detroit’s east side.

A Facebook video of the aftermath is going viral. It shows a woman bloody and crying and claiming that the store clerk assaulted her.

On Tuesday, community members and activists went back to the party store, the Chalmer’s Plus Liquor Store near Chalmers and Glenfield, to confront the clerk about the situation.

Pauletta Jones said she was shopping when the clerk assaulted her.

"Just basically I came in to buy something and I was assaulted by the worker,” said Jones.

She had stitches on her head and lots of community members rallying around her.

Detroit Police said they are investigating but there is more to the story.

They said the clerk told them Jones was drunk, that Jones was attempting to steal something when she bit the clerk when he tried to stop her.

At this point there is no one in custody and there are no charges pending. Police said they will be reviewing surveillance video.

The store’s owner didn’t want to comment on camera but he told Jones he fired the store clerk and he will help with her medical bills.
