Detroit police are investigating the stabbing death of a woman on the city's west side.
Officers say a woman in her 50s was attacked outside an abandoned house at Grand River and Livernois.
The attack happened around 7:00 p.m. Witnesses say they heard screams and called 911.
Police were on the scene quickly, but the attacker had run away. Officers are searching for suspects using tracking dogs.
The woman was taken to Henry Ford hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She has been identified, but her name is being withheld until family members can be notified.
Officers are describing the attack as very violent and say the woman suffered multiple wounds to the abdomen and hands.
Police are checking a nearby gas station to see if there is surveillance video showing the attack or its aftermath.
