"My son didn't deserve to die this way," says Terrence Ricks Sr. after his 25-year-old son was murdered when police say a woman used her car as a deadly weapon.

Danisha Mathis, 20, is now charged with First Degree Premeditated Murder.

Mathis was arrested the day after investigators say she used her car to chase Terrence Ricks Jr. down West Seven Mile near Trinity with her car and intentionally hit him.

The surveillance video is horrifying as Terrence is seen desperately trying to get away.

His parents say he'd only been dating Mathis for about a month. An hours before he was killed, Terrance was heard on the phone telling someone to never call or text him again.

Later that day, Mathis showed up at the Ricks' family home. She and Terrence Jr. began arguing outside when his dad told him to come back in the house.

About fifteen minutes later, Terrence left the house for the last time.

He was hit and killed while trying to run for his life.

Mathis was arrested the next day.

"I just want to know why. I want to know why," says Terrence's mom, Rachel Ricks.

Terrence was hit and killed on June 13 and he hasn't had a funeral because his family can't afford one.

The family has started a GoFundMe account for anyone who would like to help with a donation to help pay for Terrence's funeral.
