A teacher and coach at Howell High School has been charged for possessing child pornography, according to a release from Howell Public Schools.

Duane Millar was arraigned on one count of possession of child sexually abuse material and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.

Those charges stemmed from an investigation from the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

According to the district, MSP said it doesn't believe any Howell Public Schools students are involved in the situation or that any inappropriate materials were used on school property.

According to the Howell High School website, Millar taught Spanish and was a faculty advisor for the National Honors Society and Global Outreach Club.

“The safety and well-being of our students is of the utmost importance to our district. We are deeply concerned by the charges brought against Mr. Millar and will continue to cooperate with the Michigan State Police as they complete their investigation,” said Erin MacGregor, Howell Public Schools superintendent.
