Sources are telling 7 Action News that a Livingston County Sheriff's Deputy who was injured following a police chase is an incoming State Representative.

We are being told that Deputy Mike Mueller, who will represent the 52nd District, suffered minor injuries in the incident Thursday. He was treated at the hospital and released.

The suspect was also injured in the incident, which began when deputies were dispatched to the area of northbound US 23, near Clyde Road after someone reported a silver minivan was ramming another vehicle.

The two vehicles were headed northbound towards White Lake Road, and the minivan was located by a deputy a short time later.

The deputy attempted to stop the minivan, which took off eastbound on White Lake Road, eventually going off the road, hitting a DTE power pole and overturning in a front yard near Carmer Road.

Police say the suspect resisted attempts to be taken into custody but was eventually arrested with the help of Michigan State Police.

Both the suspect and the deputy were taken to St. Joe Livingston hospital.

The suspect is expected to face charges of Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting and Obstruction and assaulting a police officer when released from the hospital.
