Not long after her two children left the house to walk to school, Brandi Strang heard screaming.
Her 12-year-old son Jared had been hit by a vehicle after pushing his sister to safety.
The driver kept going.
The hit and run happened early Monday morning at Tennyson and Maple in Roseville.
The driver likely knew there were children in the area because a school bus was stopped very close to the intersection where Jared was hit.
One witness told 7 Action News that the suspect appeared to be a white man with grey hair, and he was driving an SUV that may have been gold/brown in color.
Anyone with any information is urged to call Roseville Police.
