"Detonated explosive device" found on railroad tracks near Warren/Detroit border, sources say

Authorities are investigating after they found "what appears to be some kind of detonated explosive device" on railroad tracks near the Warren and Detroit border, sources tell 7 Action News.

We're told it happened near the railroad tracks on Hoover just north of 8 Mile Rd. on Friday afternoon.

Sources tell 7 Action News the train was stopped on that route when the conductor saw what appeared to be an explosion on the tracks in front of them.

Detroit police say a small metal pot with some sort of substance inside was left on the tracks and did explode. There was also singe marks on the rail.

There were two crew members on the CN Railway train, and no one was injured. The railway was back open just after 5 p.m.
