Sterling Heights Police are working to figure out who caused a fatal head-on crash just before 1:00 a.m. on Ryan Road north of 16 Mile Road.
One driver crossed the center line.
Both drivers may have been under the influence.
One passenger was killed in the crash.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to call Sterling Heights Police.
Police are not releasing the name, but say a 24-year-old man from Warren was killed. He was a passenger in a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica.
It was driven by a 25-year-old man from Sterling Heights.
The driver was taken to Troy Beaumont Hospital, treated and released. Police say they found drugs in that vehicle.
Police also say the driver of the second vehicle, a 27-year-old man from Troy, failed a roadside sobriety test and was arrested.
We are not using his name because he has not been charged with a crime.
His family in Troy declined comment. He has since been released from custody while the investigation continues.
Police say the blood of all three will be tested and toxicology can take several days.
