Albert's on the Alley shuts down abruptly

Posted at 5:41 PM, Mar 21, 2016

It was named one of the best sports bars in metro Detroit, but over the weekend, the owner of Albert's on the Alley in Garden City announced he is shutting down the business.

It has left employees scrambling for work and looking for answers, while customers are wondering what happened.

Customers came one-by-one to the bar on Monday but saw a sign on the door saying the restaurant is temporarily closed for re-staffing and re-structuring.

7 Action News talked to the owner and his attorney. He said they are shutting down pending a business review.

It turns out Albert's has been losing money, and within the last three years, the owner has had to put in at least $350,000 of his own money to keep the business going.

Right now, it's unclear if or when the sports bar will reopen.
