The father of Zurlon Tipton believes his son's death is part of a tragic trend in the NFL.

Tipton accidentally shot and killed himself Tuesday.

The former Indianapolis Colt was having his car serviced at a dealership in Macomb County. He was taking out a bag with a couple of guns when one of them went off.

It was the third accidental shooting involving an NFL player this year.

Aquib Talib and Josh Morgan survived accidentally shooting themselves.

Tipton's family wants other players to learn from their tragedy.

Firearms are very popular among NFL players. Three out of four players own at least one. That's according to a recent survey by USA Today.
