A 55-year-old man has been arrested in the death of his 89-year-old father.
On December 27, Gregory Nieman called Macomb County Sheriff's Dispatch Center to report that his father was not breathing and was cold to the touch. When deputies arrived to the condo in Macomb Township, the 89-year-old man was dead.
The son was questioned and released pending further investigation. On December 28, the medical examiner ruled the father's death a homicide by manual strangulation.
Nieman was arrested and brought to the Macomb County Jail. He was arraigned Tuesday on charges of Homicide - Murder First Degree - Premeditated.
He is being held without bond and will be back in court on January 7.
