For Carol Pendergrass of Macomb Township every day is Veteran's and Memorial Day.

She volunteers weekly as a Patriot Guard Rider at funerals for vets. It's her way of giving back to those who served.

Recently, Carol suffered a loss of her own. The flag on her garage has been stolen.

Surveillance cameras on the house caught the thief in the act. He was carrying another flag when he took Carol's.

"He's got a lot of nerve. Lot of nerve. Very upsetting. Very, very upsetting. I probably wouldn't have called
if I was somebody else, but this means a lot to me," said Carol.

To Carol, every flag matters and none are easily replaced. That's because every flag has sentimental value, and every flag is a symbol of sacrifice.

"I just want my flag back. That's all I want. And I would love if the judge gives this kid community service. I would love for him to have to go downtown and do some service at the VA hospital. Let him know what this flag stands for. That's what I want for all the veterans out there."
