A 46-year-old Madison Heights man is accused of using his computer to try and meet an underage girl for sex.

David Allen Mapley is accused of placing an advertisement on an unnamed website. He was then contacted by a detective posing as an underage girl, who Mapley began conversing with. The contact continued through both the website and an unnamed social media site.

Police say Mapley continued the messaging despite believing the person he was talking to was underage.

Officials say Mapley then arranged a meeting in Macomb Township, with the intention of engaging in sexual activity.

Mapley was arrested Saturday when he arrived at the meeting. At that point, detectives executed a search warrant at his home and he was brought to the Macomb County Jail.

Mapley has been arraigned on three counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, two counts of using a computer to communicate with another to commit a crime and one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes.

He remains in the Macomb County Jail on $75,000 cash or surety bond. Mapley is due back in court on March 14.
