Michigan State Police are searching for the driver responsible in a deadly hit and run in Armada Township.
Twenty-one-year-old Jacob Brand was walking along Bordmen Road near North Avenue sometime late Friday or early Saturday night, when a driver hit and killed him and just kept on driving.
His body was discovered in a ditch the next morning. State Police tell 7 Action News they believe the vehicle fled east on Bordmen, but they don’t have any other description of the vehicle.
Investigators and Brand’s family are hopeful someone will come forward.
"It just floors me, how many people's lives he touched,” said Jacob’s father, William Brand.
William and his entire family are devastated by Jacob’s loss, but talking about him is helping them cope. They’ve had hundreds of calls, messages and Facebook posts. Stories that are making William smile.
"From a young lady, that says, 3 years ago I met a person out of a crowd of a million people, how did we meet? He stood up for me when a man was being disrespectful and that set the tone for our friendship,” said William Brand.
The hits keep coming for the family, Jacob’s grandmother passed away from a heart attack, just four hours after hearing the news of his death.
"It's been a real tragedy to us,” said William.
There is a GoFundMe page for the Jacob’s funeral expense.
Anyone with information about his death can call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) SPEAK-UP or the Michigan State Police at 855-642-4847.
