Dog owner identified in biting incident

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office says it has identified a woman whose dog attacked a man and his dog earlier this month in Washington Township.

According to Lt. John Michalke, the 58-year-old Leonard woman came into the Sheriff's office on Thursday for an interview.

According to deputies, the woman said she was walking her dog, "Bella," when she Bella broke off her collar and attacked another dog.

She said she tried to restrain the 60-pound pit bull but it became a "wrestling match" and she was exhausted. So, she told deputies she got her vehicle and got the dog inside.

According to the woman, she wanted to help the injured 67-year-old man but fled the scene when he said he wanted to report the incident.

The man said he lifted his dog, a Havanese-mix, but the pit bull jumped on him, biting him and dragging him off his feet.

According to deputies, the woman will face misdemeanor charges for having a vicious dog which caused injuries, and Oakland County Animal Control has been notified on the incident.
