At the front door of the home on 12 Mile, people paid their respects to the elderly couple’s family. It read, “grieving Patterson family” as if it was a card or personal message.

St. Clair Shores Police will only confirm this was a husband and wife.

This started Thursday afternoon when the body of 92-year-old Norman Patterson was pulled from Lake Saint Clair near 12 Mile.  They found his vehicle nearby and traced it to the address of his home - also on 12 Mile.  Inside they found the body of his 82-year-old wife, Marieta.

Andy Saldana lives next door and says on Wednesday Norman went to the hospital with low blood pressure issues.

Marieta did not have any serious health issues, only a case of Shingles a couple of months ago.

He also says a son came to the house yesterday and saw Marieta inside describing a gruesome sight.

“He said a really bad situation in there. He said blood all over the place. And it was like dried blood. I couldn’t handle that. I had to get out of there,” Saldana said.

Had she been beaten?

“Beaten or cut up, something like that.”

Autopsy results have not been released.

Saldana also said police took that son with them and his car was towed away about three hours later.

It is not clear if this is more than a possible murder-suicide.

Police said they would not be providing any updates in the case until Monday.
