Two Macomb County men are locked up following separate investigations relating to sexual crimes involving children.

In March 2016, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which was forwarded from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, regarding pornographic images of children had been downloaded to a computer by a Clinton Township person.

Detectives with M.A.C.E (Macomb Area Computer Enforcement) investigated the tip, which lead them to 43-year-old Richard Sherman Johnson who lives at the Silver Springs Mobile Home Community.

Johnson was arraigned July 1st in the 41B District Court on charges of Distributing or Promoting Child Sexually Abusive Material, Using a computer to commit a crime and three counts of possession of child sexually abusive material. He was given a $25,000 cash or surety bond.

Also, a two day investigation led police to a 55-year-old Romeo man.

On June 29th, a detective with M.A.C.E. responded to an ad on a popular website.

Over two days, the detective says Charles Edgar Keller sent graphic messages, including photographs, to arrange sex with who he thought was a male child. He was arrested a day later after arranging a meeting.

His green Mini Cooper that he was driving was impounded.

Keller is charged with counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity and one county of using a computer to commit a crime.

Keller’s bond was set at $150,000. He is due back in court July 12th.
