Dozens of homeowners were victims of a vandalism spree that saw windows busted by rocks thrown at them.
Sterling Heights police are investigating the incidents, two of which took place at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday on Danforth Street just off Dodge Park.
The front picture window at the home Carolle Harris has owned for 48 years was shattered by a landscaping boulder.
The vandals also broke out windows in two of the vehicles that were in her driveway.
Karam and Bridget Bakoss were also awakened by the shattering of glass. Their front window was broken by a rock from their own yard.
When the couple went to check on their six-month-old son later, they discovered his bedroom window had also been broken. He was sleeping in his crib at the time and the couple is thankful he was not injured.
Sterling Heights police Lt. Dave Sarvello told 7 Action News the department has 25 reports of incidents that started at around 3 a.m.
He said the preliminary damage estimate is $17,000.
One eyewitness told police they saw a white male, 18-22 years of age, wearing dark clothing running to a dark colored Jeep Liberty or Compass.
Others told police they heard loud voices and laughing after hearing a window shatter.
