Warren City Council member Kelly Colegio accuses Mayor Jim Fouts of calling her about her mother
WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Warren City Council member Kelly Colegio has accused Warren Mayor Jim Fouts of calling her about her mother, who is Facebook friends with critics of the Mayor.
Colegio says her mother is 76, lives an hour and a half outside of Warren and has special needs. She spoke out during the Warren City Council meeting saying her mother is off limits.
She’s not looking to fight Fouts politically.
Others say if the Mayor did this it goes too far.
Fouts remains under fire after several audio tapes that sound like Fouts talking negatively about special needs people, African Americans and older women became public.
Fouts denies they are him.
A recall has been started by Warren resident Joseph Hunt.
The language still needs approval by the Macomb County Election Commission. That is set for March 27.
Fouts won re-election in 2015 with 85% of the vote.
