Roseville trucker accused of firing gun at another trucker while driving on I-75

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Monroe County Sheriff says a 50-year-old man from Roseville has been arrested for assault with intent to murder following an incident on I-75 in Frenchtown Township.

It happened near Nadeau Road at mile maker 18.

Police say they were called by the victim at around 12:45 p.m. Friday. The 68-year-old told them he was traveling southbound in a white Freightliner tractor-trailer when someone pointed a gun at his ruck and fired. He told police the suspect was in another white Freightliner tractor-trailer that was also traveling southbound on I-75.

Deputies responded to the area and made contact with both the suspect and the victim and began an investigation.

Deputies say the found a bullet hole in the passenger door of the victim's truck. A spent round was also found in the door.

Police say a semi automatic pistol was also found in the possession of the suspect. He was taken to the Monroe County Jail and charges.

His identity is being withheld pending arraignment.

The victim was not injured.

Police have not commented on a possible motive.
