Animal Control officials in Royal Oak have been dealing with dozens of animals that were found in a house in the 1000 block of Edgewood.
Officials say they found 84 cats and 7 dogs at the house. Because of the large number of animals, Oakland County Animal Control was called in to assist and the animals were taken to the Oakland County Animal Shelter.
Residents called in Royal Oak officials at around 1:20 p.m. Monday because of a strong odor coming from the home. They suspected the 54-year-old man and 48-year-old woman who lived there may be hoarding animals.
Officials say the conditions in the home were deplorable, but the animals all appear to be in good health. It is hoped they will be put up for adoption.
Anyone interested in adopting the animals should call the Oakland County Animal Shelter at (248) 391-4100 or visit their website.
Officials say the couple are cooperating with the investigation and no charges have been filed.
