Creepy Clown epidemic behing decision

Clown costumes will not be allowed during Halloween festivities at Beverly Elementary and Pembroke Elementary in Birmingham, according to school officials.

The decision is in response to a nationwide rise in pranks, crimes, and attacks by people wearing "creepy" clown masks.

"Based on the media coverage we just wanted to insure that our Halloween festivities are fun and safe," said Dr. Jamii Hitchcock, principal at Beverly elementary.

Students who wear clown costumes or masks to school will be sent home.

Residents praised the move, saying it was necessary - given the circumstances.

"I think it kind of puts the schools in a no-win situation. If they let kids where clown costumes and some kids
are really frightened then that would be unfortunate," said Birmingham resident Sharon Suess.
