Federal agents raided a doctor’s office to investigate the misuse of prescription drugs.
It happened Thursday at the Rochester Hills Medical Center, an urgent care office on Crooks Road. Dr. Chris Samy’s name is on the building.
Undercover investigators collected evidence inside the office, then could be seen arresting two people who worked inside. They did not release their names because so far they have not been formally charged.
“Even with good intentions, you can get in trouble,” said Billy Todd, a salesperson for RHB laboratories.
Todd came to the urgent care as the raid happened. He says the company he works for tries to help doctors protect themselves from this.
Dr. Samy had just hired RHB laboratories in Southfield two weeks ago to do toxicology tests to help her determine when patients are addicts.
Todd says he believes she sincerely wanted to help her patients.
“How do you differentiate between patients that need it and don’t?” asked Todd. “Then you are in an ethical dilemma. Do I give this patient medication or do I let them go down the street to buy heroin? Cause they can’t get something from me?”
