One dog managed to find his way home, walking about a mile after his owner was struck by a vehicle in Royal Oak.
Police say the woman was walking both of her dogs across a crosswalk on South Main Street on June 27 around 8 a.m. when she was hit.
Following the accident, her dogs, Lola and Henry, wandered off.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
A search soon began for her dogs. Lola was found near the accident scene. She sustained injuries for breaking her owner's fall. Lola was taken to a veterinarian to get checked out.
Officers and animal control searched for Henry and soon discovered that he had made his way home - about a mile from the accident scene.
Henry was waiting at the front porch. He also sustained a minor injury to his paw.
Police say the 51-year-old woman that hit them was found at fault and issued a violation for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
