The family of a Hazel Park bicyclist who was struck and killed Monday night is desperate for answers.

The family of 54-year-old Cordie Howlett returned to the area where he was killed, near John R and Woodward Heights Roads in Hazel Park.

The father of two was leaving a friend's house around 11:00 Monday night, when we was hit by an SUV.

Surveillance video shows the moments before he was hit. The driver took off. An off-duty officer and a passerby stopped and stayed with him.

His sister Kelly Jackson says, "Thanks for doing that, for not leaving him alone. That was so important to us, that you were kind and we appreciate it with all of our hearts. And I know he did too."

His family and friends gathered, leaving a photo, flowers and candles.

Police are looking for a dark colored SUV with left front end damage. If you know anything, give them a call right away.
