If you don't mind fur on your yoga pants, then this class is for you.
A cat shelter in Ferndale offers group exercise classes in a room full of kittens!
Miranda Mayuiers is the Catfe Lounge "Purrlates" Instructor.
"We have a mat-based Pilates class and we allow the cats to come out and interact with us," she said.
The Catfe Lounge in Ferndale offers yoga and Pilates classes in a room full of adoptable cats and kittens.
"Cats who will just fall asleep in the middle of your mat and you have to work around them."
Miranda says the cats sometimes take over the mats, leaving participants to maneuver around their new furry friends.
"It's a lot of fun. It keeps class exciting," she explained. "This class is all word of mouth and Facebook posts and we've been really fortunate that it's been doing so well."
You don't need cat-like reflexes to workout here!
"We've had people who've never done a yoga class or Pilates class."
This class benefits both humans and cats.
"The cats are always doing something - whether they are sleeping, whether they are watching us, whether they are batting at our hands and it helps - helps break the ice with us."
The classes at Catfe Lounge are great for people looking to make friends, both two and four legged.
"It's nice because we have a lot of people that come in by themselves," Miranda said. "We've also had a number of cats adopted out."
The yoga classes take place Thursday nights and "Purrlates" is on Saturday mornings. Both are held to raise money for the shelter.
"It is a suggested donation of $15. We are also always looking for donations for the cat café in terms of food, cat liter, paper towels, cleaning supplies."
Remember -- the point is the help these kittens find a forever home. So don't BYOC - bring your own cat!
"I tell people bring your mat, not your cat," she added.
