Royal Oak police say a 26-year-old Florida man was hit and killed by an AMTRAK train just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning.
According to police, the man disregarded a lower crossing arm and attempted to cross the tracks near the intersection of Main St. and Sixth St.
Witnesses told police the train was sounding its horn and the railroad crossing was active and working at the time.
Police say the man was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak where he was pronounced dead.
