The Alzheimer's Association - Greater Michigan Chapter is hosting the annual "Walk to End Alzheimer's" at the Detroit Zoo.

The walk is Saturday, August 26. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. It will be followed by an 8 a.m. ceremony, with the 1.8 mile walk kicking off at 8:30 a.m.

Retired WXYZ-TV Anchorwoman Diana Lewis is serving as the emcee for the event., which will take place rain or shine.

"I am so looking forward to serving as emcee for the Walk To End Alzheimer's," Diana said in a news release.
This is such an important event because we as a community need to come together to fight this awful disease. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been touched by the tragedy of Alzheimer's in one way or another. Through our fundraising efforts we can support scientific research, which I am confident will eventually make this condition a thing of the past. I am excited to have a Channel 7 team out there, which will be led by news anchor, and my daughter, Glenda Lewis. So come out, walk with us and join in the fight on August 26 as we Walk To End Alzheimer's!"

To donate, visit act.alz.org/walk, select a location then chose an individual or team to support, or the cause in general. All contributions are tax deductible. A $25 donation from event participants and attendees is suggested.
