Hearing impaired man texts 911 to report oven fire in Rochester Hills

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said a hearing impaired man was able to communicate with emergency responders by texting 911 when his oven was on fire.

According to the sheriff's office, they received the 911 text from a man in Rochester Hills around 7:45 p.m. on June 29.

While communicating with the dispatcher, he said his address was in the 3800 block of Dearborn.

The Rochester Hills Fire Department was dispatched to the address and was able to extinguish the oven fire. No one was injured.
