Detectives are investigating the gruesome discovery of a human skull near train tracks in Troy near the 900 block of Coolidge.
Sources say a pedestrian discovered the skull near the tracks and immediately called police.
Troy police say the location isn't far from Home Depot and Whole Foods.
Police would not go into details about the age of the skull or cause of death. However, they say they've been able to establish an identity and are now working to notify family members.
People living in nearby apartments and those shopping in the area say they are stunned at the frightening discovery.
