An Orion Township man was tasered after allegedly punching an Oakland County Sheriff's deputy early Friday morning.

According to the sheriff's office, the deputy first noticed the 23-year-old man driving with no headlights on Silverbell near Lapeer Rd. He pulled the man over and then suspected him of "possibly being under the influence of drugs."

After conducting a field sobriety test, the deputy tried to handcuff and arrest the man. He pulled away and then punched another deputy in the face, the sheriff's office said

He continued to resist, so the deputy tasered the man and was able to take him into custody.

He was taken to the hospital, and then transported to the Oakland County Jail for operating under the influence of drugs, resisting and obstructing and assault on a police officer.
