Hundreds honored a Marine dog that was laid to rest Saturday at the Michigan War Dog Memorial in South Lyon.
Cena was a bomb dog that saved hundreds of Marines in combat.
He served three tours in Afghanistan. His closest handler and caretaker CPL. Jeff DeYoung said Cena was injured in every tour.
He went through rehabilitation for a year.
In 2014, Cena was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. DeYoung and his family cared for Cena after he retired.
Nearly 20 war dogs rest at the Michigan War Dog Memorial.
A GoFundme has been created to help with Cena’s last wishes. It has raised over $60,000.
