CLAWSON, Mich. (WXYZ) — Now that the snow fall is over, the massive cleanup begins.

Crews will be working through the night to make sure you have a safe morning commute.

We tagged along with Belbot Services who are working to get driveways and businesses ready for the sunrise.

“This one’s definitely the most so far of the year,” says Mike Belbot.

Belbot and his crews are fanned out across Clawson and surrounding areas - cleaning up the inches of snow that’s making for some treacherous conditions.

“We probably won’t be done working till tomorrow night, maybe Wednesday morning,” he says. “We’re mainly focusing on our houses right now and then we’ll go on to our commercial because a lot of our commercial businesses are closed now.”

He says this winter has been anything but normal.

“We don't remember it going all the way to January without any snow,” Belbot says. “It went from a week and a half ago we had absolutely no snow, til now. It’s pretty crazy.”

Crazy enough that dozens of areas in metro Detroit have declared a snow emergency, creating a sense of urgency for crews like Belbot Services and their customers. But Mike cautions patience.

“I don't think some people have the grasp that it is a business, there are multiple customers. We’re not going to be at your house every time the, the first person,” he says.

Another word of caution - crews like Mike’s, they are not able to plow side streets and could face legal trouble if they do. It’s up to city and county crews to get those roads clear.
