A Michigan State Police Trooper is in good condition after he was hit by his own car during a crash around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to Michigan State Police, the trooper made a traffic stop on I-75 near 9 Mile and was arresting the driver of the car on a warrant. As he was placing the arrestee into the front passenger seat of the patrol car, another driver getting onto the highway drove onto the shoulder at a high rate of speed and rear-ended the patrol car.

The trooper, who was outside of his patrol car at the time, was hit by the patrol car as a result of the crash. The vehicle then rolled over the patrol car and hit a woman who was a passenger and standing on the outside of the vehicle.

All were taken to the hospital, where the trooper and arrestee are currently in good condition. The woman is in serious condition and the driver of the vehicle that hit the patrol car received no injuries. A woman who was a passenger in car that hit the patrol car received minor injuries.

The freeway was closed for about four hours while police investigated the crash. Right now, it is not clear whether alcohol played a factor in the crash.
