Police officer's wife targeted by threatening messages on Facebook

Posted

Livonia Police say they are disturbed and concerned about threatening messages sent to the wife of an officer in Oakland County.

The woman talked to us Monday night, but only if we would hide her identity.

She was sent two disturbing messages on Facebook. One showed a man killing an officer with the hashtag Black Lives Matter. Another written message using all kinds of curse words, threatening to harm her, and hoping her husband is "next".

The woman told us, "I'm not a police officer. For you to threaten us, and say you're going to kill me and my family, is unacceptable."

Livonia Police are now investigating.

Operation Peace Detroit, organizers of the large protest on Friday, issued a statement, after hearing about the threats. It says, "violence against innocent officers is directly against their mission."
