Great Lakes Water Authority says it's still on track to get a boil water advisory -- now in effect for 12 Oakland counties -- lifted.
The Authority announced today that a replacement pipe came in from Illinois this morning and crews were working to get it installed by Wednesday evening.
They also say they restored water pressure to 15,000 residents out of the more than 51,000 who had little to no water use on Tuesday.
The GLWA says next steps are pressure testing, disinfecting and flushing the main, followed by water quality testing.
But some people are asking what they are supposed to do after that advisory is lifted.
The Oakland County Health Department says the most important thing for all residents to do is flush the system.
"A flushing program for your home would include turning on your cold water taps and running those for about 5 minutes," said Mark Hansell, Oakland county's Chief of Environmental Health Services.
Other recommendations include running your dishwasher for one cycle at the hottest setting or on a sanitized setting and draining your hot water tank for at least 15 minutes.
