Three weeks after their dog Lucy went missing, Sandy and Rob Hamill feared they would never see their beloved Yorkie mix again.
In June, while Lucy was receiving care at a veterinary clinic in Novi, a worker took her out for a walk, the slip lead came off and Lucy was gone.
The Hamills appeared on 7 Action News to plea for people to keep an eye out for their Lucy.
They also contacted Lori Briggs, a retired Detroit Police officer responsible for rescuing nearly 1,000 lost and stray dogs.
Briggs enlisted the help of Lynn Fiedor of the Lost Dog Search Team, and they set out traps in certain areas based on sightings of Lucy.
Then, with the help of some fried chicken in one of the traps, Lucy was caught!
She had lost about 30% of her body weight but Lucy was finally safe.
The Hamills are so thankful for everyone in the area who reported seeing Lucy so they could know exactly where to place the trap that would bring her home.
