A thief took purses and cash from the employee break room of Kruse and Mure in Rochester while the staff was hard at work. It happened February 11 when the restaurant was packed with customers.

"He just walked in, went right into the employee area, took the items and left. He was only there a couple of minutes," said Sgt. Keith Harper of the Rochester police department.

Surveillance video captured he thief taking handbags and an apron, which he used to wrap around the bags to conceal them on his way out.

"I've been here 12 years and haven't had to deal with anything like that so it was a surprise," said general manager Steve Nichols

The thief got away with 400 dollars in cash-- tips an employee had earned the night before.

She works two jobs and goes to school.

"That money goes a long way for her so she's out that so it's very unfortunate," Nichols said.

Nichols said the thief had to have known how to find the break room, but he is not a former employee.

If you recognize him contact Rochester police.
