A metro Detroit community is upset after three people were shot outside a banquet hall in Pontiac on the 500 block of Perry Street early Saturday morning.
Neighbors said they're not really shocked by it; they said this type of stuff happens "all the time."
Paul Vanroekel said he was walking when he saw a man pull out a gun and start shooting. He heard gunshots and took cover.
"They were fighting about a girl or something and the dude started shooting," he said. "I got to the ground and I didn't move until it was over."
David Coleman, previous owner of the banquet hall, said it happens all the time.
"That was one of the reasons why my wife had encouraged me to get out of this rental hall business because sometimes people come to fight," he said. "We can try to prevent it but sometimes, it seems like the bad element always comes out."
Coleman said he's still dealing with crime in this neighborhood.
"I had just had my break-ins last week at my other building and I'm still trying to recover from that," he said.
The three people who were shot are expected to be okay.
