Walk-through metal detectors are being installed at DTE Energy Music Theatre just in time for the start of the summer concert series.
Fans going to the Dirks Bentley concert on Sunday will be the first to go through them.
"It enhances safety and it's an easier process," says Kevin Grigg, a spokesperson for Palace Sports & Entertainment.
Walk-though metal detectors were put into use at the Palace last year for basketball games and concerts.
"What we've found is that it's less invasive for our fans, it's better for our security and it becomes a better experience for everybody," says Grigg.
At DTE Energy Music Theatre, fans will be asked to place large metal objects like cell phones, cameras and large key rings into a basket while going through the metal detectors. They will not be asked to remove shoes, belts or the change from their pockets.
The walk-through metal detectors will be at all entrances to DTE Energy Music Theatre.
