Peter Woolf, owner of Sun Baths, says you no longer have to travel for relaxation - instead you should go to a community bath house.
He's submitted site plans for a 12,000 square foot bath house to the Ann Arbor Planning Commission.
The business would house saunas, a hot pool, a temperate pool and a cold plunge. You can go by yourself, with a friend or enjoy the water with complete strangers.
"It’s like taking a vacation in Hawaii. We’re always going and more than ever we need a way to disconnect, a way to relax. You don’t do your work when you’re going to Hawaii. You stop,” says Woolf.
And that's the same concept for Sun Baths: no energy needed from customers - or the business.
Woolf is working with developers to make Sun Baths a Net Zero Energy building using special roof panels. The water would come from the rain and the sun would be used to heat the water. But mostly, it's about making you feel better.
"Less stress, they perform better in terms of mental tasks, they’re happier, they actually heal wounds better, they have less pain. They have a lot of advantages associated with this,” adds Woolf.
Sun Baths has a $3.5 million budget and could open its doors Spring 2017 - if approved.
