Several families are looking for a new place to call home for now, after lightning struck Oak Ridge Apartments in Ypsilanti Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters say lightning hit a transformer, and then hit the apartments on Holmes in several locations.
7 Action News was invited inside some of the charred apartments, seeing first hand the devastation left behind by Mother Nature.
Jasmine Rogan, a married, hardworking student, told us, "Just thankful I can take this breath right now. I'm holding back tears, just holding back tears."
She had no renter's insurance, and had no idea what to do next.
Firefighters credit quick work and firewalls for knocking down the fire.
The American Red Cross has been called in to help some of these families.
