Health officials have confirmed norovirus as the cause of student illness this past week at the University of Michigan.
Close to 100 students at the university sought treatment for vomiting and diarrhea.
The university says in a statement on their website that they identified the outbreak after a number of students fell ill at West Quad and South Quad.
"As we head into the weekend and the number of social activities increase on campus, it is especially important for individuals to practice good hand hygiene," says Dr. Robert Winfield, the university's chief health officer, in a press release. "For example, sing "The Victors" (takes 20 seconds) while washing your hands with soap and water."
Other tips include not sharing drinks and cleaning contaminated surfaces.
