Inkster police say the mother of a 2-year-old boy who died after he was found submerged in scalding hot water is in custody and is a suspect in the boy's death.
The toddler was found around 7 p.m.in an upstairs bathroom of the home in the 26000 block of Avondale. He was rushed to the hospital with burns to 50 percent of his body. He later died from his injuries.
According to police, Child Protective Services is involved with the family. We're told four children, including the 2-year-old boy, were removed from the home at some point this year.
They were "recently" returned to the parents.
Police say the boy was still in the hot water when first responders arrived and they had to remove the toddler from the Jacuzzi bathtub.
The mother, three other children and a neighbor were all in the home at the time.
