Elementary students in Allen Park are getting an art lesson outside the classroom.

Lindemann Elementary students participated in a project called Art for the Sky.

They got help from a world renowned artist named Daniel Dancer.

Nearly 700 students were assigned different colored shirts and were placed on the grass to form a Kirtland Warbler. It is a bird on Michigan's endangered species list.

This is the first school in Michigan to participate in this project.

The Allen Park Fire Department gave a helping hand, offering an aerial view with their ladder.

Teachers say it's important to fund art programs for young children.
