It is an investigation that started when a concerned mom went to Canton High School and asked to speak with a school resource officer.

She wanted to file a report. She believed her daughter was having an inappropriate relationship with an assistant varsity hockey coach at the school.

This week the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office charged 20-year-old Eric Locke with three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a child.

"It started when she was 15-years-old. It is a huge shock for the family and very concerning for us. The impact is huge for the family,” said Chad Baugh, Deputy Director of Canton Police.

He says investigators raided the assistant varsity hockey coach's house and collected evidence. The girl he allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with was not on the hockey team, but did meet him at school.

Eric Locke was technically employed by CoachEZ, a company the Plymouth-Canton School District hired to provide coaches.

”CoachEZ, LLCis dedicated to providing its school partners with quality athletic coaches. The safety of our partner’s students is of extreme importance to us,” it said in a statement. "Earlier this week, CoachEZ was notified of a concern involving Mr. Eric Locke a contracted coach on assignment in the Plymouth-Canton School district. Consistent with CoachEZ’s procedures, the contractor was removed from all access to assignments in the schools we serve.”

Locke is scheduled to appear in court March 10  for a preliminary conference. If convicted as charged he faces up to 15 years in prison.
