It's a real life love story in Allen Park, where on Wednesday, Charles and Carolina Salliotte celebrated 76 years of marriage.

It’s a milestone most people won’t ever reach.

Caroline, 97, and Charles, 98, met on a snow train trip to Grayling more than 77 years ago.

Charles said she was actually first courted by his brother Raymond, but he asked her out the next week.

The pair gets a good laugh about that now and they’ve managed to keep the laughter and the love strong for all of these years.

They reminisced about where Charles asked Caroline to marry him.

"Good old Elizabeth Park, what were we doing there? Parked! Until the cops kicked you out at 10:00,” said Charles Salliotte.

The pair has six children, 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Charles said no matter what relationship you’re dealing with, there will always be some problems.

"I don't care what family it is, who it is, you're always going to have problems, something comes up,” said Salliotte.

He does have some secrets to success after 76 years.

"You got to get along and you got to love each other, you got to cooperate, you can't say I'm going here and the other say I'm not going there, you've just got to agree on everything,” said Salliotte.

It also helps that Charles always agrees with Caroline.

"Like I said, as long as he keeps saying yes,” said Caroline.
