There could soon be a solution for residents dealing with routine flooding in Dearborn Heights, but not all the residents are pleased with outcome.
There are 15 homes along Hanover that routinely flood. Now there could be relief for the homeowners in the form of a federal grant that would buy them out.
Following heavy rainfall last week video showed the street was entirely flooded.
Neighbors say their homes have no re-sale value.
City officials say they've been looking into solutions, but there is no easy fix.
Now there's $2.8 million available in federal funds for these 15 homes. Residents can choose to take that money and leave, or stay and wait for a possible long-term fix that could be years away.
But residents don't want to lose money if they take the deal. Some have been living in the homes for decades.
There will be a formal announcement in the neighborhood tomorrow. Each resident will also receive a phone call about the process.
