DTE upgrading infrastructure in wake damage from heavy wind storm

DTE officials were on site in Detroit this morning talking about a neighborhood --- off San Juan Dr. -- that was hit hard in the aftermath of the storm on March 8th.

The company says it's one of more than six thousand locations across the region where permanent repairs are now required.

700 lineman are still at work across metro Detroit restoring the damage.

DTE says today that there is a silver lining of the storm damage -- the opportunity it has created to upgrade infrastructure that's more than 60 years old.

But making those permanent repairs means they're forced to spend more money and make bigger investments, something that could potentially increase the costs of services for consumers.

However, the company says it's going to invest in a way that's conscious of what customers can afford to pay.
As for when they expect all the work to be complete, DTE says their goal is to have it done by the middle of June.
