A former Allen Park High School swim coach was sentenced for his illegal actions with a sophomore student.

Tyler Card was once a trusted educator and swim coach at Allen Park High School.  Now, the 26-year-old is a convicted felon.

The Southgate resident stood quietly before Wayne Circuit Court Judge David Groner Tuesday while his punishment was handed down.

Instead of going to jail, Card was given three years supervised probation. He also is to have no contact with the victim or the Allen Park School District and he will be listed on the sex offender registry.

In May, Card pleaded guilty to accosting a child for immoral purposes and using the internet to communicate with another to commit a crime.

The former swim coach admitted to sending sexually explicit text messages to a 15-year-old female student and asked her to send him naked pictures through Snapchat.

Card was fired from his position with the school district.
